Adam Nicholls is a Field Sales Representative at EPG Administration Services for Metal Master Shield.
We sat down with Adam to get the lowdown on what makes him tick professionally and outside 9-5. Let’s learn more about him.
Tell us about your work experience prior to your current role.
Before starting at EPG Administration Services I worked in the print industry so coming into this role in 2012 was a bit of a change. I was 24 years old when I started and looking for a new adventure to sink my teeth into, and this seemed like a perfect opportunity.
What is your current role at EPG Administration and what does a typical day at work involve for you?
My role is a Field Sales Representative. I tend to split my week up with 4 days of client visits and 1 day in the office spent on organising my visits and meetings. I have always been an adventurous person who loves to travel, so getting out on the road and visiting clients is a great way of doing this.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
The fact that no two days are ever the same. We, as a company, have a large client base which takes us all around the UK, Europe and sometimes beyond.
It’s always a good thrill to win new clients and to go and visit them.
What are your biggest successes to date?
During the time I have worked for the company we have grown substantially. I obviously wouldn’t credit that to myself, but with the team we have and the products that we offer I feel as though it gives me an added peace of mind and confidence to go out there, get new deals and promote our brand. I brought in many new UK based dealers along with manufacturers we are in negotiations with, and I strive to continue to do so.
What are the most important things for you to achieve this year?
I would love to see all my hard work, dealer visits and manufacturer visits, pay off. When you travel 30,000 miles per year, it’s nice to have something to show for it 😊. We all have specific targets to reach and in time I look to exceed these, and to really set the pace for what’s to come.
What characteristic do you most admire in your colleagues?
We have a great team, with a vibrant mix of people that have been in the industry for decades as well as younger staff who are eager to get all the necessary training. My colleagues come from various countries and speak multiple languages – it’s great to work with such a mixed team, being surrounded by so many cultures.
Who inspires you?
I am extremely close with my family who have always looked out for me. I would say I look to them for inspiration as they always seem to know how to make things right.
What is the best advice you ever got?
A great slogan I often quote is “Don’t spend your life waiting to live” – in other words: stop thinking about having fun or bettering yourself, just go out and do it!
What does your perfect weekend look like?
I like to have varied weekends. Sometimes I love coming home and crawling into bed at the earliest opportunity. Other times I like planning spontaneous trips and going out for adventures to new places.
What is your favourite company tradition?
